The video streaming platform YouTube has started offering HD streaming for mobile app users in India. The feature, however, works only when it is connected to WiFi.
1080p HD video quality on YouTube Mobile app

YouTube has brought back HD streaming for mobile app users in India. In the initial lockdown stages, YouTube had announced that they will restrict the streaming quality on the app in India to SD (480p) in order to save the internet bandwidth.

The restriction has now been lifted and the YouTube videos on the mobile app can now be watched at HD, full-HD, and also in higher quality. The streaming quality is only available when the user is watching videos using WiFi. Mobile data browsing is still restricted to SD quality [remember:p ]

The YouTube app now allows video streaming in HD quality when connected to a WiFi network. Depending on the quality of the video, the quality settings now features 720p, 1080p, and 1440p, other than the standard definition 144p, 240p, 360p, and 480p. The HD options are available only when streamed using WiFi. The same video reverts to 480p quality when viewed using mobile data

Also, all YouTube users can watch 1080p video and not just YouTube Premium users. YouTube desktop users have been able to stream videos on HD quality and restrictions were only for mobile app users.

btw - YouTube has not made any official statement for this development :cautious: but you can try' hope this will work for you (y):giggle:
